The idea of establishing an academy for the Arabic language in Jordan began in the third decade of the twentieth century in 1923 AD. It was the second academy for the Arabic language to be established in the Arab world. In late 1973 AD, the Council of Ministers approved the request of the Minister of Education to establish the academy, and a royal decree was issued to that effect. It officially began its work on 10/1/1976 AD.
